Dan Selby

Indigo Music was born in October 2000 by lead composer and sound designer, Dan Selby, from a desire to make better music for advertising and other media.

Things have expanded a lot since then and, though Dan is still at the hub of everything, he now gets to work regularly with an amazing bunch of specialists and freelancers - session musicians, sound designers, composers and engineers as well as the web designers, legal eagles and bean counters who help keep everything running smoothly.

Dan was originally going to be an astro-physicist (yes really) before deciding that maybe a career in music might suit him better. After finishing an Honours degree in Popular Music and Recording at Salford University, he spent a couple of years heading up the audio department of Manchester based Northstar Multimedia, before leaving to work as a freelance composer and sound designer for the next three years.

Since making the decision all those years ago to abandon his degree in astro-physics, Dan has played in bands, made recordings and (obviously) produced music and sound on loads of TV, radio and cinema commercials. He has never appeared on Top Of The Pops and has no plans to.
